Great product!

Instructions could have been better and picture always good!

Quality control is lacking.

I would say that Delta was off its quality control game the day they made the grinder that I got. When it literally shakes itself off of the bench while running is unacceptable even for a budget bench grinder. The course wheel had a full 1/8" run out. The variable speed is a great feature but it added a lot of noise on this particular unit. I returned it to Lowes and went down the road to Harbor Freight and purchased the Hercules variable speed grinder for $80 less (which is seemingly identical ...

Worked great right out of the box.

Works great, no vibration. Pleased with the device. Some reviewers complained about the assembly instructions and they had a valid point. My take on it is; if you have trouble figuring out how to do the simple assembly you might want to hire someone to do your sharpening jobs.

Delta grinders.

I have the 6" and 8" grinder. I wanted speed control and lighting. I have found vibration to be a problem with both of them. My bench vibrates with the grinders. The grinding wheels are the problem. I have six grinding wheels from Delta. None of them spin true. They all wobble side to side in various degrees. That creates the vibration. Sadly let me down

All the other reviews about this one with the wobble issues are true but for my application didn’t effect me I took those wheels off and was use if it with 8” wire wheels to take light mil scale / rust off tubing before painting and also welding. Got maybe 8hrs out of it in 3 months that I’ve owned it and today after using it for about 2hrs off and on I change wire wheel out and when I went to turn back on it wouldn’t just buzzed and started smoking out of motor . Delta Model 23-197 8" Variable Speed

I chose this grinder based on 2 things. Parts are available and I could buy it my local Lowe's where it would be easy to return. REVIEW: The arbors run out 0.0005" which is pretty good. The wheels wobble 0.020" which is terrible. From other reviews of grinders this is probably good by comparison. Two things are a must for any grinder. Have to start by hand

I bought this thing about a year ago and have literally used it about 5 times. Today I flipped it on and it hummed but wouldn't start rolling. I finally had to start it by hand and wait a minute or two for it to get up to speed. Not the quality I would expect from Delta - cheap Chinese crap from Harbor Freight yes but not Delta

Not as good as years past

This is the 3rd Delta grinder I purchased for our shops. Its been a few years on the first two and they held up so I bought another one. This one only had the motor in the box. Yes it was factory sealed. Exchanged it for another . The latest one has one of the wheels out of round as well as the collars are warped. Tried to put a wire wheel on it . TWO BAD OUT OF THE BOX

I ordered the first one online and picked up in store. Assembled at home through looking at pictures online of the assembled product as the instructions that come with it are completely useless! After assembly I turned it on and it vibrated horribly. I turned it off right away. After looking at it, the axial runout on both sides was off by by at least 1/4" on either side. 8” Delta Bench Grinder

I had to return the 1st one I bought because it wouldn’t turn on. The second one turns on, but it vibrates, most likely because of the grinding wheels. Always thought Delta was a quality brand, but not after this experience.

Complete Junk

I run a motorcycle restoration shop and go this before we moved to the new shop and was going to use it in the new shop so it sat in the box for a few months. Got it set up to replace the 40 year old bench grinder we had. The motor failed in less than 10 hours of lite use. Delta used to make good stuff 20-40 years ago. Today's Delta is complete junk. Don't make the mistake I did.

Not worth the price

I had high hopes. I was willing to pay more for a well known brand but the quality wasn’t there. The thing vibrated very badly. It seems that the wheels weren’t balanced very well. And it made a lot of noise when it ran. Overall, not worth it.

Not so good

I've owned this grinder for about three years. It has what you might think is a nice feature, variable RPM adjustment, but you'll find that's just a marketing feature as you'll always want it on maximum RPM. The grinding wheels that come with it are completely worthless IMO. They load up easily, and I struggle to remove material on metal surfaces.
