What Customers Are Saying
The Delta bench grinder is a reasonably priced tool with variable speed control and sufficient power for tough grinding tasks. However, the included grinding wheels are often poor quality and require replacement or balancing. Assembly can be confusing, and some units have reported durability and reliability issues. While the grinder provides good value overall, buyers may need to address quality control concerns and be prepared to potentially replace components.

Would Not RecommendGrinder shafts are true. Variable speed works well. Stones are pure crap. I guess I can use them for a boat anchor. So out of round they are unusable. I would have to spend more on a wheel dressing system than I paid for the grinder to use them. Not for fine tool sharpening for sure. Buy a Rikon.

Poor Quality, Not Safe, DO NOT BUY
Would Not RecommendThis grinder is not up to traditional Delta stnadards. Both wheels were warped right out of the box. The light bulb socket is held on with a push nut and is so poorly held that is is nearly imposible to screw in a lightbulb. After only a few minutes of use, large chunks of the wheel were falling off. DO NOT BUY. This is a dangerous tool.

Grinding stones
Would Not RecommendAfter using the grinder a few times the stones got a slight wobble and got worse. Reseating the helped but were soon wobbling again. Frustrated, I went to buy new stones, thinking these stone were defective or something. In doing so, I found that no one had these stones for sale. I contacted Delta for help. after giving Delta all the info on the grinder and the Cat No of the grinding wheel's they sent me to a site call Empire Abrasives. No luck. That company doesn't handle grinding stones. Wound...
Good value bench grinder for DIYer
Would RecommendGood, middle of the road bench grinder. Variable speed a must, tool support could be done better / more robust. Good for the price.

Bought it. Returned it. Here's why...
Would Not RecommendThis is long, so you're warned. Here are details my experience with this unit and why I do not recommend it. Unboxed it and at a first impression found the materials seemed of poor fit and quality. Hardware: Fastening knobs and the bolts themselves are cheap and if you decide to keep the unit you should plan on replacing them if you assemble/disassemble this unit even a couple of times. I took it apart several times for troubleshooting various things and I don’t know that the screws and b...
Decent bench grinder
Would RecommendI’m seeing a lot of bad reviews on this bench grinder talking about how bad the vibration is. Well first off, what do you expect with the cheap and horrible wheels it comes with?? The first thing I did was put some good quality grinding wheels on it and boom, it runs like a top! Now there are two back draws to this grinder, one being the noise the motor produces but that’s kind of expected with a variable speed grinder. And two would be the slow down time, which could be potentially dangerous if...
great little grinder for the price.
Would RecommendIt's amazing that so many people want a $600 industrial variable speed grinder and only want to pay for a hobby $170 tool... get real, you'll never be happy! This is a great $170 grinder. Very easy to assemble without the use of instructions. The little wobble is to be expected for the price; they obviously made the price low by including crappy wheels. I surfaced the face and sides of the wheels and now the grinder hums along beautifully. Stop blaming the tool for not understanding how thing g...
low powered
Would Not Recommendbought this to use with a polishing wheel and wire brush but it hardly has enough power to turn the wheels without putting a load on it. so easily bogged down
Very low vibration.
Would RecommendVery strong performance and low price point for this quality.

Good Combination of Features for the Price
Would RecommendThe Delta 8-inch bench grinder has a reasonable number of features at a reasonable price. I'm a DIYer with modest needs for a bench grinder, mainly sharpening mower blades, chisels and other assorted tools. Important features for me were variable speed (to tailor the speed to the project), a light and a dressing tool. Surprisingly few grinders have all of these features. After unpacking the grinder I checked that the nuts securing the grinding wheels were secure; one was tight, the other was...
