What Customers Are Saying
The product has mixed reviews. Many found it easy to use for filling small cracks and provided a good base for painting. However, some reported issues with the putty being too thick, dry, or difficult to work with. Others experienced problems with the putty not drying properly or causing staining after painting. Careful application and following instructions closely appear important for achieving good results.

Would RecommendI am 60 plus years old. I have used DAP Painters Putty on all of my painting projects over the years. Once upon a time when my boys were much younger I used DAP to repair windows that had been shot with BB guns. According to the boys the neighborhood poltergeist was responsible. I let them off the hook for originality but did require them to assist in making the repairs. DAP works each time every time.

Easy to use- dries fast
Would RecommendThis spackling compound is very light and fluffy. It applies nicely and formally to whatever imperfection or hole you are trying to disguise. I like the texture of it a lot. But - it is not intended for deep gouged or anything with a large diameter. I would recommend it.

Good product
Would RecommendProduct works as intended. It can get a little yellowish tint to it after some time which isn’t a big deal as it’s meant to be painted over. Also, this product will dry out quickly if the top is not properly sealed back on. This is user error so nothing against the product. I wish Lowe’s sold it in a smaller tub though!

A little hard to use
Would RecommendNot much experience fixing wood damage, it may be a technique issue but I had a hard time getting it to not stick to the putty knife on a second pass.

Very poor product
Would Not RecommendI am a hands on professional that has been in the business for a long time and every time I have purchased this product I have been disappointed. The putty is to dry and to stiff making it difficult to work with and it does not want to bond to the surface for filling dents and scratches when the package says it is designed for that purpose. DAP normally has good products but this has been a poor product for many years.
