Used it to clear codes on my car and diagnose it

Poor instructions and website.

The first thing the instructions tell you to do is to connect you OBDII reader to your computer and made sure the reader is updated, however, there isn't any link to do this. This is not a good start.

Dependable and accurate

Easy to use and hasn't lead me wrong yet. Use this on my vehicles, my friend's vehicles and vehicles that I am working on.

Software updates?

Have had this for over four year. Works fairly well for codes but other functions less so. Promised software updates don't seem to exist.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Craftsman OBD2 Code Reader for a few weeks now, and it has quickly become an essential tool in my garage.

OK, would pick a different model if got a do-over

Works, but display text is very small, and was unable to identify a code for a 2014 Chevy Volt. I updated, but it said that my software was already up to date. Mechanic's scanner could read the code as a battery problem.

Garbage

Not worth the time! I've tried 4 times and 2 hours of researching and seeing if there is something I'm missing as far as update the software. Every time I plug it in "Installashield " comes up supposedly downloads a bunch of stuff on my computer, then when I click on it to open it up it wants to go through the whole process of downloading the software again and again like a vicious cycle. It won't let you open the file to update software.

EXTREMELY disappointed!

Finally got it to update after 4 tries. No usable printed, onboard or online instructions, other than "turn key to on, plug unit in"! I expected to download data and graphs to computer to print out, but took me forever digging through their "update software" to find the 'LSDC Driver Setup' get the stupid thing to talk to the computer.. Then I found the 'Scanprint.exe' file buried in there, and created a shortcut to desktop to start that. Took the piece of garbage out to truck, and it did read a ...

Lousy sparse manual, wonky updates.

Software update is EXTREMELY wonky, but I got it done the 4th time. Just don't remember exactly how I stumbled into it. A better step-by-step procedure SHOULD be in the extremely sparse user manual, or at LEAST on this site, and it shouldn't be difficult to do. The user manual could also use more info. It's basically "Turn your key to on, plug in"...and you're on your own. Does it do any drivetime data reading? What mode, if so? Why isn't the instructions programmed in and able to print out via ...

Can't update software

I cannot update the software for this CMMT77693 code reader. I can usually follow directions well, but this does not seem to be "user error". Am I missing something. Just out of the box and purchased today.

Functional, easy-to-use tool.

It lives up to its name as a code reader. The tool is very easy to use and has plenty of help menus. It detected a P0300 Misfire DTC and a P0446 EVAP code on my vehicle. It also clears DYCs, resets the I/M flags. It graphs data PIDs as well. It isn't a rugged tool designed for everyday shop use, but it is great for the DIY mechanic or even as a second diagnostic tool in the shop. Easy to check for updates online.

This product is great it works on all 5 of my vehicles from my 02 suburban to my 21 Camry perfectly highly recommended it.
