Don't waste your money, spend $10 and get a Bosch

Laser measure isn't accurate to even the claimed 1/4" in spaces that are less than 6' long. Display is tiny and dark. Just spend the extra $10 and buy a Bosch laser measure.

Great little device

First off it’s a lot smaller than I expected. Took a few times to figure out how it works as the instructions were not helpful. You hold it against the wall, turn it on, look for the laser dot on the opposite wall, them hit the button again. You can then read the distance from the device. Make sure you select the right type of measurement, either feet, inches or meters. Overall it worked great.

Not for everyone

If your a die-hard Craftsman fan, this is the tool that will change your mind. No user manual included, you have to go online to find one. The display is so small that it's nearly impossible to read. I have tried getting it set up correctly and using it, but so far no success. I regret the purchase.

Does not turn off

I bought this yesterday. I used it today and I have to remove the batteries to turn off the unit.

how does it work

I just bought one of these, but there is nothing included that gives any clue at all how to use it. Way to be user friendly, Craftsman.

Terrible product!

Cannot get even a straight line out of this! It will not stop moving and will not turn off unless I pull the batteries out! If you're spending money my advice is to spend a little more. I cant understand how this thing received any good reviews. Terrible product, with no instructions provided.

great features!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this red cross laser for my last renovation project and the laser was much more accurate than anything that i've used. it made it much easier to complete certain aspects of my project. but i also love the size as i have small hands and normally products like this are hard to grasp because of the oversized nature of the product

Does what it's supposed to.

Works great, just make sure you throw the cheap Chinese batteries in the trash and buy some name brand alkalines. 1. For those that couldn't find the directions, there were cryptic pictures/symbols inside the folded color cardboard package front. I agree not very useful. Had to just try it out and then it was pretty clear how it worked. 2. For those who couldn't get it to self level, it's likely you didn't set the switch to unlock. 3. Not as accurate as advertised

Fully charged and 2 inches off when measuring 36 inches. Advertised to be 1/4' accurate

Looks and feels good , BUT.........

Got the 40ft laser measurer for my mother for Christmas, tested it a few times and finally figured out how it worked and the different modes feet and inches and metric modes. As I said basically figured it out as the thing came with one small piece of paper with some pictures for use instructions. All my testing seemed to indicate the device to be even more accurate than stated on the packaging. I would have probably given 41/2 stars if it came with some kind of clear understandable instructions...

Very useful

I have used only a few laser measuring devices over the years, but this one is hands down my favorite. While it doesn't do the ft² or volume measurements of some larger more feature laden units, the 1/16inch accuracy and small size make this a great tool for home owners and professionals alike.

Confirmed measurement with a tape measure. Were exactly the same.

Awesome pocket laser tape

I thought you have got to be kidding me when I saw this! I tried it inside the store by comparing it with an actual tape measure. Lol it worked... have been using a lot both indoors and out with no second guessing

Laser measurer

Compact size and accurate. It is easier than a tape measure for long distances.

simple and effective

easy to use, measures in decimal feet, inches, or feet and inches, to closest 1/16", and in meters. Laser is difficult to see in daylight, and small size is great for pocket, but you really have to steady it over long distances to make sure you hit the right spot on the other side. Great for measuring things you can't easily reach, like ceiling heights, eves, etc.
