At home, I have always owned HP AIO inkjet printers. I finally decided to try the Brother MFC-L3780CDW. Fine printer. Scanning the way I want is tricky.
This laser printer was easy to set up, very responsive. The printer output is crisp and clear. The onboard control takes a little getting used to. My two issues, for which I subtract 1 star, are that the scanner is so fast in starting that it's hard to hold a book on the glass in position and hit start with a spare finger. Love the Printer
I love the printer. I cannot get the scanner to connect to my computer no matter what I do. I use scanning a lot so I always have to go through my computer to the scanner instead of the scanner to the computer which would make it a lot easier for when I'm trying to attach to an email etc...

New machine setup is problematic.
The MFCL3780 is a complex machine that I have not been able to get configured to work correctly. The Brother Chat Help link does not respond during open hours. The iPrint&Scan will not run so I cannot initiate a scan from the PC. The printer repeatedly picks up multiple pages and jams.

no Brother drivers for Microsoft Surface Pro 11
It turns out that Brother does not have drivers that work on a Microsoft Surface Pro 11 because it's an ARM-based processor. They take no responsibility for this egregious oversight on their part. The default Microsoft driver does not work correctly (duplex printing always flips on the short side regardless of settings).
