Defective right out of the box, would turn on and cycle and unit was off. and all Brother could do is give me a re-tread for my new printer, bad news

Printer Head Cleaning
This is by far the best all around printer I’ve owned. However, ever since I replaced the black ink cartridge the print quality declined significantly. Cleaning the print head fixes the problem, but I have to do this almost every time I use the printer.

J4535 is possessed
I loved the printer until it grew a life of its own, Working fine for the 1st month, set up a breeze. But then, with the power off, nothing displayed in the window, it turns on and cycles. Then turns off. Brother cannot fix, this issue is new to them. I downloaded new drivers and firmware. Got worse. Now if turns it self on and will not stop this cycling. They left out some key features!
They left out some key features! When i make copies they come out wat to faded. EVERY TIME, I have to go into the menu and select full darkness or whatever they call it, to get a decent copy. What an inconvenience. Stupid. The other thing i dont like is the paper support is manual so if you foget to extend it the paper goes on the floor. Best set of features for a home office print+copy
I had a Canon MFP that worked well until it recently died after 4.5 years. I used AI to search for a replacement and the Brother MFC-J4535DW was the only one that matched all of my requirements. I'm giving 4 rather than 5 stars due to repeated difficulty using the rear single sheet feeder.

Love two paper trays!
I love that there are two paper trays so that I can leave #10 envelopes in one all the time. I haven't had any issue with the printer not choosing to print from the correct tray, so I must have set that up correctly. It is odd, though, that I will hear the printer turn on and act like it is getting ready to print, when I have not done anything to require printing - I'm not even in the room. I've used it to scan documents so that I have a digital copy and don't need to keep the paper.
