Improved Insulation

When replacing my 40 gallon tank with this new AO Smith unit, I found the outside diameter was much larger which indicated a heavier insulation. This will hold the heated water longer at a temperature that calls for less time that the gas will turn on and reheat. Same height and location of all hookups from my previous Kenmore, making it a very easy change out.

I would recommend this BUT...

This is a WELL BUILT product, although....even well-built products occasionally have a manufacturing defect. I had one of these that had the the brass nut fracture and separate from the hose. Luckily, I was in the next room and heard it break free and begin to spray water everywhere. I was fortunate enough to be home when it happened and shut the water off quickly to minimize the damage.
