Ratings & Reviews for Whirlpool 5.07-lb Ice Per day Built-In Cubed Ice Maker (White)
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers report mixed experiences: while many praise the ice maker's strong performance—producing hard cubes quickly and reliably—a substantial portion express frustration with installation failures and poor post-purchase support. Reviewers frequently cite refusal to install, unopened units left on counters, and inadequate technician training causing water leaks. Some experienced mechanical issues like ice spillover or frozen bins. Despite these service breakdowns, those who successfully installed the unit consistently describe reliable, fast ice production with ideal cube size and volume. Overall, satisfaction hinges heavily on installation execution rather than product quality itself.

Design flaws
Would Not RecommendI bought a refrigerator in December and this is the third icemaker I have had installed. There is a basic design flaw in that the icemaker will not stop making ice when it gets full so the ice continues to fall all over the refrigerator since the ice bucket is full. I have to manually turn the icemaker off and each time. I wonder if it will restart when I do need ice. My first icemaker wouldn’t turn off and the second icemaker once it got turned off would not restart. The ice bucket is quite fli...

Problems from the start
Would Not RecommendThis ice maker is horrible. It leaks at the bottom corner of the refrigerator when the ice maker is on. The installers from Lowe’s seemed to be forcing something into the freezer that wasn’t fitting. When we turned the ice maker on two days later, water was leaking out the bottom below the water hose. Also, the refrigerator has frozen half a watermelon and a container of lettuce on the recommended setting.

Adequate and inexpensive.
Would RecommendThe icemaker works fine, producing nice cubes in a fairly quiet manner. Unlike my previous icemaker, it does not have an on-off switch. Instead, you push the wire lever all the way up to stop it from making more ice. It also produces ice as aa slighlty lower rate than my old one.

?
Would RecommendI'm sure the ice maker is fine, but the delivery person just left it on the kitchen counter boxed up. This is one of our rentals with a scheduled move in so we had to send out our appliance tech to install it. FYI The house already had a water shut off at the fridge location with a new stainless braided line awaiting connection. So we are not sure why they chose not to install the icemaker?

Poor Installation Policy
Would Not Recommenddoesn't work. installer told us to wait 48 hours for the ice, but now Lowe's install service window (also 48 hours) is past, we have to wait for Whirlpool to send a service tech out, which is 2 weeks away.
