Ratings & Reviews for 3M Fire Block Foam 12-oz Straw Indoor Spray Foam Insulation Canister
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
The product is generally effective at filling gaps and holes, especially in larger openings, and has fire-retardant properties that allow it to expand significantly. However, some users reported issues with controlling the nozzle, the foam continuing to expand after application, and the product not being approved for certain fire-rated applications. The product can also be messy and difficult to clean up. Overall, the product is useful for many home improvement tasks, but users should exercise caution with the amount used and ensure it is appropriate for their specific application.

The handle didn’t work properly and the entire foam come out
Nice product
Would RecommendNice product for our project; we used it on the venting for our new pellet stove and it worked like a charm.
Good product, just plan ahead
Would RecommendGreat product and easy to use. Just wish there was a way to easily use a small amount now and then without gumming up the straw.
Code compliance
Would RecommendWorked awesome and as detailed. Easy the apply and pass inspection!

Expands a ton! But not a lot in a can.
Pros: -This stuff *really* expands. Comparable to GreatStuff Big Gap Filler. Maybe even more. -Fire resistant. I tested the fire resistance on a small puff that fell off my application. It seemed to self extinguish fairly well... Fire on foam is a worst case scenario but this gives me a slightly better peace of mind than regular canned spray foam. Cons: -A single can doesn't go very far! Buy more than you think you'll need.
Fireproofing basment
Would RecommendUse to fill electrical holes and horizontal fire stop when fireproofing basement. Inspector was more than please and passed 1st try.
Stop the fire gaps
Would RecommendFilled gaps for fire blocking nicely. Great for large gaps from plumbing electrical cut outs in fire barrier.
Easy to use
Would RecommendGreat product easy to use ,I will buy this product again
Worked As Described
Would RecommendRead many of the reviews on this product (Fire Block 12-oz Orange Sanded Paintable Caulk) prior to purchasing and had some doubts it would work. I tried it anyway, as there were no other products available at my local Lowe's that had the same rating. I followed the instructions on the can, probably shaking it longer than required because of the negative reviews. It worked just like it said it would and filled the gaps I needed it to.
Horrible product
Never again. Doesn’t stick well, sags too much after apparently setting, not consistent from can to can. Great Stuff Pro is a much better product and much cheaper when you consider how much 3M you waste because of its inability to adhere to surfaces.
works as promised
Would Recommendthis product worked just as normal spray foam. very Easy to operate and directions were clear.
Better than regular foam or caulk
Would RecommendVery good control when applying this, and the orange color makes it easy to see when following up on painting and sanding.

Use the whole can the first time
Would Not RecommendI don't need to fill a lot of holes, so I thought I would try this can. I used it the first time without any issues. It sat for a couple of months and the second time I tried to use it, it would not spray fluidly like it did at first. After I stopped using it, it continued to spray foam until the whole can disappeared. I would not recommend this, instead just use the fire caulk, at least you get to use all of the product at your leisure.
