Great Obe Coat Paint

This paint is great for one coat coverage. I went over a few shades of dark brown with a pale grey and was able to do it in one coat. I used the matte finish going over a satin paint. Worked great. Used other light colors over brown.

Very Poor Coverage

I am confused by the positive ratings. This paint is supposed to be paint + primer but it has very poor coverage. I've completed one coat and the color is only slightly different from the base color of the wall (original color is a neutral sand color, new color is white). I am probably going to have to do 4 coats to get the color consistent. I wish I had paid more for Behr and gotten a quality product.

Good Covering Smooth Paint

For whatever reason I always had a negative attitude towards Valspar. I guess I just thought it was cheap. After a year of painting with it, it is now my go to paint. A great paint at a great price. I love Valspar

Not for dark colors. We used a Navy over a light beige wall. It was covered but you could see every roller stroke. We asked an employee about this, she wasn’t very helpful. We are going to try our third coat now.

Went on the walls perfectly and was the exact color I wanted.

Very thin

After 6th gallon Lowes just could NOT match their own color, we chose a darker color. Very thin. Like choc. Milk.

Great paint

Great paint too bad I had to make 3 trips to Harrisonburg Lowe’s to get 3 gallons because they don’t stock enough base paint! 2 gallons on the first day, next day “it won’t be in unti Thurs”. I wish you would have told me that on Tues.! Meanwhile I have painters lined up. Friday “it didn’t come in but I gave you a higher quality base and I reduced the price”. Will it match what I already bought “it should”. Should?! Seriously this has to match!

Not what it advertises

I gave this paint 3-stars as I had to do 2-3 coats when advertised as Paint and Primer in One.

Great paint with great coverage

Had to repaint the dining room from the damage from installing the hardwood floors. The paint went on smoothly and covered all of the imperfections from the first paint job. Even though it was a red color it covered very well.

One coat lie!

I recently used this product and the primer. 4 coats later and the job still needs touch ups due to the color bleeding through. Lowes was great about replacing the paint for free to finish the product but it doesn’t make up for time lost. When I contacted Valspar saying that they should do more and one coat is a false advertisement they had nothing more to offer.

Valspar wall paint

I have purchased Valspar products for years and have always been most satisfied with their performance. On this particular product, I had to use 3 coats to get a satisfactory coverage. Never have I had to use more than 2 coats in the past. After painting, I had to let the walls sit for several days before I could even put the electrical covers back on due to the fact the paint surface remained somewhat tacky to the touch.
