What Customers Are Saying
The paint appears to be a high-quality, durable oil-based option with a smooth application and glossy, long-lasting finish suitable for interior surfaces like cabinets and trim. However, some users reported issues with color matching and suitability for exterior use, where it may be prone to mold and mildew growth. Overall, the paint seems well-suited for interior wood applications when used as directed.

Used this paint on a 113 year old wooden gate and the results were great. Had some color added to it to match the trim on a home that was built in 1760.

First coat on unpainted popcorn ceiling
Would RecommendI have a 37-year-old unpainted popcorn ceiling that was blended with a new popcorn ceiling. After talking with several professional painters and paint salesmen, I had differing opinions on what to use in my situation. The only "proven" product was $57 a gallon. Being on a limited budget, I didn't want to pay this much. I couldn't afford a professional either. I had carefully tried latex paint on a small ceiling. Even while rolling in one direction only, I mistakenly overlapped in a small we...

BOOOO!!! DON'T BUY THIS PAINT.
Would Not RecommendI have been painting for 35 years, so I know about paint. This is not good paint. 1. All I needed was a quart. They only have a gallon in custom colors. But since a quart is usually overpriced I accepted the gallon. 2. This "satin" is NOT SATIN, but a shiny semi-gloss. 3. It does NOT go on smooth, as oil-based paint should, and does not even out as it sets up. The can says, "Do not thin." 4. I now have shiny paint with brush strokes on my trim. 5. I'm returning it. :(

Color is not white
Would Not RecommendThis paint goes on as a bright white but after a few weeks, it cures to an off white color. It's extremely noticeable. This paint should NOT be called "white" as it is far from it. I hired someone to paint all the trim and crown moulding/baseboards, installed carpet, etc, after the paint was complete and it looks terrible. Now I am stuck with a color that I hate. If I wanted off white (yellow tint) I would have purchased "off white".

Far better than latex!
Would RecommendI have used this product for the columns and lintel on my 1923 house porch. Love it! Hard as nails. After cleaning with Mineral Spirits my brushes look brand-new. I'll never go back to latex, which looks and feels like bubble-gum to me now. I did treat the old wood with BOILED linseed oil (which cures in 24-48 hours) before painting and had no trouble at all: strong wood, strong paint. The customer with the compaint here must have used RAW linseed oil, which takes TWO MONTHS to cure--no wonder ...

Does a great job on trim and doors
Would RecommendCovered up antique white in 1 coat....my first time using an oil based paint and I am impressed with ease of use of this product. Clean up is a bit of a pain as I am a little bit of a messy painter :-)
Incredible value
Would RecommendAs a former finishes contractor who spent nearly 40 yrs working with every conceivable solvent-based product, I know a few things about paint. After being told by a local Benjamin Moore dealer recently that a gallon of Satin Impervo now retails for $125/gal I actually laughed and said: "No, really"... Crickets. (I remember when that gallon costed $18.00, and that was back when the whites would stay white, and not yellow). So searching around for alternatives, I found Valspar Ultra 4000 Satin Oil...
Sticky Runny Nasty
Would Not RecommendSee the title. Just nasty oil based paint. Stinks. Too glossy. Runs all over plus splatter. Replacing it with latex.
We apologize for the concerns you have had while using our Ultra 4000. These types of results are not typical of this product. From 4000 Satin White Interior Paint ( 1-gallon )
Kitchen
Would RecommendI used this on the cabinets in my kitchen. Results exceeded my expectations. A very nice smooth finish.
Use as interior paint only
Would Not RecommendI used this paint on some old wooden windows that I stripped and reglazed, these windows get 6 to 8 hours of south Florida sun a day. with in 3 months the windows were black with mold. I also used this on the ceiling of my front porch and now they are covered with mold.
We apologize for the concerns you have had while using our Ultra 4000 paint line. All of our products contain mildewcides that help resist mold growt...
Good first experience with oil based paint
Would RecommendI repainted my 1957 kitchen cabinets, 19 doors, 6 flat drawer fronts, 5 curved drawer fronts, and 3 end panels. I've never used oil before but they were originally oil so they needed to be oil again. It was easier to put on than latex, the brush travels more easily. I was able to do the flat and rounded drawer fronts with just one coat, they were a small area and I could carefully smooth out the surface of the paint before it started getting tacky, and in addition I could pull them out and se...
