Is this harmful to hermit crabs? (Silica)


I don't think so since it's suggested for chicken coops. It's been washed and that is the most important thing about the sand.

QUIKRETE All-Purpose Sand is not recommended for aquariums or similar uses. QUIKRETE Play Sand, Model #11351, is recommended. It is screened, washed, and dried. It has no other ingredients added to it, so it presents no more danger to hermit crabs than sand obtained from a beach or a river. If the sand is going to be under water, as a safety precaution, you may monitor the pH of the water before introducing it to the hermit crab, as you may do with the introduction of any new material.
