The team that originally installed my new range hood could not get the exhaust fan to work. They tested it and decided that it was a faulty fan. Ordered a replacement hood. When the new hood arrived (about three weeks later) a different installation tech came to install it. When he removed the "broken" hood, he discovered that the exhaust vent duct was never properly attached by the original installation team, causing it to rest on the fan which kept it from running. Avoid if not using exhaust to roof

I bought this for the exhaust to go into the kitchen. I installed filters. I do not use it often, but when I do, the smoke alarm goes off. I would only recommend this product if it's installed with the exhaust going to the outside. My guess is that there is no exhaust fast that really works well with the exhaust through the kitchen.
