Light weight drywall

Would Recommend

This is not your typical half inch thick sheet of drywall. It is been made to be lightweight. I do find it to be a little more brittle, but careful handling result in good results. When you have to move a lot of them to load a job, it helps being lightweight.

Great as a tack surface and as a sound barrier

I’m using homasote panels in lieu of drywall in my basement studio as a tack surface (although it’s not self-healing) and also as a sound barrier between the shop space and studio. It’s lighter than 1/2” drywall, and easy to install (I used drywall screws). I used a utility knife to cut mine to size; it takes a lot of passes to get a clean cut. This material will crack/snap if you bend it too much. It’s basically “stacked” and pressed fiber layers. Because of this, there are slight variations in...
