Commander in Chief Lily is an Asiatic lily that produces an abundance of large, 6 to 8 inch wide blooms in shimmering scarlet-red. The effect of its intensely saturated blooms is simply stunning in a mixed border, and the contrast it provides to other summer blooms is lovely. But don't let that box you in. It grows almost anywhere in zones 3to 9, in full sun to partial shade, so long as you give it well-drained soil. It grows about 3 to 4 feet tall, and makes an easy focal point, even in a smaller container display. You'll adore these blooms, but deer won't they tend to avoid this lily.
