What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this prep knife for its razor-sharp blade that cuts effortlessly through fruits, vegetables, and proteins with minimal effort. The 5.5-inch length is celebrated as the ideal in-between size—larger than a paring knife but smaller than a chef's knife—making it perfect for detailed tasks without being unwieldy. The lightweight, well-balanced handle with non-slip texture provides secure control and comfortable grip during extended use. Reviewers consistently highlight exceptional edge retention and German steel construction. Most consider it a reliable, versatile daily tool that outperforms larger knives for smaller jobs, with many calling it their new kitchen favorite.

This is a reasonably priced, quality product. I’m particular about the knives I buy and their maintenance. I’m going to enjoy this knife!

Misleading
Would Not RecommendThis knife is lightweight and nimble. My main complaint is the pencil-thin handle. I have small hands and it is just too small to get a good grip on the knife.

Handle Design flaw
Would Not RecommendHandle by shape matches my 4 star knives. However, the size of the handle is much smaller than the handles of my complete Four Star knife set. The size of the handle is about the same as the steak knives. Way too small to handle the function of this 5.5" Prep knife.

New go to
Would RecommendWe got our first 4 star knives (5 piece set) in the 1980s. We have since added steak knives, another paring knife plus Santoku and Nakiri models. The 5.5" prep is a new go to that is a really interesting "in-between" the European and Japanese styles.
