What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this firestarter for exceptional reliability and ease of use. Most highlight how simply lighting the wrapper ignites fires instantly, eliminating the need for kindling or lighter fluid. Many report it works effectively with damp or wet wood, even in humid conditions and wind. Reviewers consistently note the strong, consistent flame burns 10 to 15 minutes, sufficient to ignite larger logs or charcoal. A few mention the size is smaller than expected or detect a faint odor, though these rarely impact satisfaction. Overall, customers consider it a game-changer for fire pits, fireplaces, and grills.

Would RecommendThese fire starters are the best I've found for charcoal or fires of any type. No solvent smell, light quickly and work well. Don't pay more than $8-$10/box.

Great Firestarter
Would RecommendThe 16 pack of fire starters is great for a backyard summer party. They are fast starting and burn hot to get the fire going. Just light the wrapper is literally all you have to do. I would not recommend cooking on a fire started with this for a while as there is a strong chemical smell that comes off of the fire using this starter. This dissipated when the fire was going and the starter had completed its job so just give it a few minutes to clear. Overall a quick and easy way to get your backya...
These are legit!
Would RecommendI got these fire starters at the beginning of a very long wet spell. I’ve tried them twice and was pretty impressed with them. The first attempt was to light a burn pile of trimmings from our yard. The pile was a worst-case scenario because it was damp and all of the trimmings had a lot of space between them. I had tried to start the pile with some cardboard and couldn’t get it to light, so I use one of these and it worked like a charm to get the cardboard going. I tried these again a few weeks ...
Works Great!
Would RecommendFirestarter is a great product. I will be using this product all winter long to start my wood fireplace. I had to use my grill to test this product. Using standard charcoal Briquettes its almost impossible to start without lighting fluid. It was not a problem using Firestarter. What a great product
Love it - will buy from now on, works every time!
Would RecommendThis ZIP Firestarter product really delivers. I had my doubts, but it just works every time! These are little tablets/wafers/biscuits about the same volume of a hotel bar of soap, in a plastic-like wrapper. They say to use 1 (at most 2 - I've never used more than 1) and simply light the wrapper. It works perfectly - the wrapper ignites and proceeds to ignite the wafer and there are 16 per box (~1oz each)! That's 16 bonfires out of this little box!! Its a very reasonable cost and size fo...
Works. Slight smell
Would RecommendThese light off very easily and burn much longer then paper or other sort of easily lighting thing you might use. It’s smells sort of like lamp oil and does produce a bit of black smoke. It can be put out with water and is pretty wind proof
Just Right for All Fires
Would RecommendGreat for any fire starting needs. Have used in grill, fireplace, and campfire.

A+ Great size - Immediate Start
Would RecommendThese blocks are smaller than expected but light immediately and worked very well. I’ve used the larger, slower burning blocks, but prefer this little guy. It says you can use 2 blocks for larger fires or damp fires. I think 1 would work for the majority of any fire or charcoal you would need to ignite. There is an odor of lighter fluid. The box says not to cook over the flame for 18 min until the block is gone. We waited and toasted marshmallows. We will use these again and again. At around...
Lots of nice features..!
Would RecommendThere are many good fire starters on the market today. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Over the years I have probably used 80% of the different types. The Zip Premium All Purpose Firestarter definitely has some distinct advantages. 1) They are packed in seal plastic wrappers which allows to put one or two of them in your backpack without sacrificing valuable space. 2) They light instantly as soon as you lite the plastic wrapper with a match (or rubbing sticks if you really are ...
worked great on charcoal
Would RecommendI didn't know if this would work with charcoal. I used 2 fire starters with about 3 lbs of charcoal. I put the starter on some charcoal and lit it. Then stacked some more charcoal on top (i don't have a chiminey starter). I took a picture after about 5 minutes, it was burning well. After 20 minutes, my coals were ready. Easier and more convenient than using charcoal ligher.
great. light even damp wood quick
Would Recommendthese are great. I didnt expect them to work so well. just for a try I lit some damp bark and wood in our fire pit. it lit and kept it burning. firestarter itself burned for approximately 10-15 minutes on its own.
They work well and burn longer than anticipated
Would RecommendVery easy to start a fire in fire pit, wood burning fireplace, wood burner or to light charcoal in a grill. Just place one with some kindling. It lit quickly, burned a lot longer than I anticipated, and had substantial enough flame to build a nice recreational fire. I will use it regularly to fire up the wood burner in winter.
Great fire starter
Would RecommendThis is good as advertised. All you need to do is light the corner of wrapper and it catches on fire. You don't even have to take it out of the wrapper. I then put smaller pieces of wood around the fire and everything started to burn great.
Small package, lights fires well!
Would RecommendThese were smaller than most of the firestarters we've used in the past, but it lit easily and got the fire going quickly. They got the wood going and we had a roaring fire for s'mores in no time!
Dirty Smoke
Would RecommendFast to light and foot tall flame. Good for starting a fire or cook out charcoal, but for the 16 minutes that it burns, you need to stay away from the terrible smoke. Burns all the way to ash, and you can light the wrapper to get it started. Definitely not a wimpy flame. Lots of thick black smoke and odor while burning.
I really wanted this to work
Would Not RecommendI had hoped that this fire starter would remove the need for collecting and storing dry kindling. it did not. I started with one brick and quickly realized that the flame didn’t get large enough to use a TP method for fire starting. I then decided that this product should be able to light a well seasoned piece of wood without kindling so I placed a few pieces above it that had seasoned for more than a year. It didn’t work. I then added 2 more bricks and collected some dry sticks to try and start...
Worked as Promised
Would RecommendMinimal paper packaging and a quickly lighting fire starter really impressed me. The shape on the actual fire starters made use easy. The lack of fire starter odor or greasing were positive factors. Worked very well in our fireplace located on our deck. I heartily recommend this product.
Lightening fast light!
Would RecommendZip Premium All Purpose Firestarter lights wood fast! I used one Firestarter and just lit the wrapper and in no time we had a campfire going. The individual packets are convenient and super easy to grab one or two to get your fire going. I'm going back to buy more of these so we can have a campfire every night all summer long. You could just as easily use these in your fireplace.
Easy fire starter!
Would RecommendIn the past, I messed with a dab of gasoline here and there. Problem is it lights fast and burns right up before the wood can light up. Problem solved - these are individually wrapped firestarters are safe and get the job done quickly. Light the wrapper and product will stay aflame for 15+ minutes - plenty of time to light any wood!
