What Customers Are Saying

This primer provides good coverage and stain-blocking capabilities, especially on challenging surfaces. It helps create a smooth, uniform base for topcoat paints, potentially reducing the number of coats needed. However, some users reported issues like hardening, poor coverage, and an unpleasant odor. The overall experience seems to vary, and customers should be aware of the potential drawbacks when using this product.

Pricey, but good!

Would Recommend

We used this primer in a house that was previously smoked in and previous owners had many pets. This primer sealed/ helped eliminate the odor, but allowed the final paint to adhere really well. While pricey, I would still recommend.

Hides discolorations as expected

Would Recommend

I used this in a living room with dark markings on the ceiling due to cold trusses. It went on easily and did the job. I did a second coat with regular ceiling paint, as regular ceiling paint is much cheaper, and it looks like it did the job.

Primer hardened

Would Not Recommend

This primer was either old or exposed to air. There was a 2.5" layer of hardened primer at the top of the 5-gallon bucket. The remaining primer was so thick, it couldn't be poured out of the can. The only way to get a 5-gallon bucket is to order online - so you never know what you are getting. That's just poor practice.

Used this to prime over pet stains before getting some Stainmaster LVP installed. Worked great, amazing coverage.

Worth driving out of state if you can't buy within

Would Recommend

In my opinion, for exterior pressure treated wood, an oil base primer is the best way to go vs. latex, or water based. Too bad NY state won't allow the sale of the product - was well worth the 2 hour drive (one way) to purchase two gallons and used every drop on an exterior PT fence that had aged one year. With a semi-gloss top coat, looks like something out of Better Homes and Gardens. Also, top coat latex with this oil base primer took less than a gallon, all done by hand with roller and brush...
