worst machine in 64 yrs.

Some Ph.D. who never used a washing machine thought that all these cycles were wonderful. Worst machine I have ever used in 64 yrs. A normal load of white or colored cloths rocks and rolls. If I were not on concrete I would be in basement. Never had an issue with Kenmore or GE. I am beyond exhausted hanging to this machine in order to shut it down.

I bought this machine in Dec. 2016. It is now Aug. 2026. Washing machine worked like a champ, then it just stopped spinning. Would have like to have purchased another one, unfortunately, this machine has been discontinued.

This thing has got to go...

This washer is the WORST washer I have ever owned! Bangs everywhere every spin even though its balanced and evenly loaded. I can't believe how horrible it is! If you would like a spinning banging nightmare, knocking your dryer into the wall and denting your drywall every washload, this washer is for you!

Suffered long enough

Should have read the reviews before I purchased this machine. It does not spin out the clothes, the drain and spin cycle actually rinses so it leaves the water in and a clothes are soaking wet . I also have to wash loads multiple times. It doesn't happen all the time but the times that it does is very annoying. And the wash cycle takes a very very long time. I'm in the market for a speed queen I think.

Buyer Beware

If you’re considering the Whirlpool HE Top Load Washer (Model WTW5000DW5), do yourself a favor and keep looking. This machine manages to turn what should be a simple household task into a frustrating, time-wasting ordeal. First, the wash performance is wildly inconsistent. Clothes often come out still dirty, especially in larger loads, despite following every recommended setting. The so-called “high efficiency” design seems more focused on using less water than actually cleaning your laundry....

Perfect Starter Machine

Great…for a few years then starts breaking

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchases the washer May 2020 & about August 2025 it started to go off balance. It was a few times at first now (Jan 2026) it’s every load no matter the size or what’s in there. It’s the suspension rods! It’s cheaper & less hassle to just buy a new machine rather than replace them. So now I’m going back to Maytag since my first washer lasted over 15 years & my dryer is over 21 years old & still going! Never will buy Whirlpool again! I have a W...

Pay a little more and get something besides this

I give it 1 star only because it does hold a large load. However, 3 out of 3 of these models have had the worst unbalanced spin cycles. I have 1 and 2 other people have the same model and have the same issues. Mine has always had a wobble but now it’s so bad that I will not wash unless I’m home. It is dead level. The answer is changing springs which is not a 5 minute job and after only 3 years the springs should not be worn this quick.

Cheap junk. Tub bushing will fail.

Machine will maybe last a year and then the tub bushing will fail throwing it off balance and slamming all around. You can replace the bushing but it’s a total pain because you won’t be able to remove the wash plate without breaking it into a million pieces. Whirlpool is just more cheap junk. Don’t bother.

not so great delay switch

Pick something else!

We bought this washer thinking, "It's a washer, how annoying could it be?" It turns out it is VERY annoying. 1st off: There is no dispenser for liquid fabric softener. I like to hang my clothes in nice weather, but without softener, they are stiff and scratchy. It never even crossed my mind that that wouldn't be a standard feature. 2nd: Want to soak your gross farm laundry? Tough Noogies. The machine will only LET you soak for 20 minutes and then it drains. Now I have to do my soaking ...

Great job for me

I bought mine in 2018 and it has worked perfectly every time ! I'm single and do like one load of laundry a week , no I don't sort at all if I buy something that needs special laundry , it's toast lol ! It's been an awesome machine and I have the matching dryer and they are both absolutely awesome ! They replaced an apartment stacking set (Kenmore \ whirlpool) from 1995 and the dryer was 110 volt ! These machines are totally awesome in my opinion

Great features,but they load capacity is deceiving

We have used it for 6 years and found out you cannot put as big of loads as it looks like you can because that it breaks and will need to go to a repair shop to get fixed. I do not feel it was worth the money.

Don't buy it! Worst. No matter how good you level it and balance the lad it shakes, walks.... horrible

No matter how well leveled it is, this thing starts to shake terribly and won't finish the cycle.

Terrible

We have had this wash machine for approximately 6 months and no one seems to be able to fix it! It will walk all over the floor in any cycle and can not be left unattended. Never before did we have such problems

This machine is fickle.

We've had this washer for about 6 years, and every time there's a brownout it craps the bed. No amount of resetting it works, it comes back to life on its own. Sometimes hours, sometimes days. Have had a couple repairmen out to, and they always say the electronics are fine, just got to wait it out. It's time to go back to building appliances without all the tech. Government regulations are ruining appliances that used to last.
