Terrible Design - Fails after a few years!

This is a terrible product, and I'll never buy another Whirlpool of any kind as long as I live. I purchased a model WRS588FIHW00 side by side refrigerator a few years ago and now find out that it is broken due to a horrifcally designed wiring harness that, according to the technician, ALWAYS breaks after a few years! Not a good choice

Purchased this whirlpool refrigerator in 2023. The unit had an fan tapping sound from the delivery date, it freezes items on the refrigerator side if near the back and shatters anything in a glass container, the ice maker is extremely slow and runs out frequently, small amount of storage for ice. Crappy Fridge

Just bought this fridge over a year and a half ago and the ice maker already stopped working. Piece of crap fridge wouldn't recommend.

Whirlpool side by side

Refridgerator is fine but with one flaw.What ever fruit or vegetable I put in it freezes unles I put it in the crisper drawer. I have lowered the temp to 3 degrees lower and it still freezes

Termperature Control Issues

Very disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought appliance in 4/2024. It is very loud, freezes food in the refrigerator at recommended settings, ice maker broke and had to be replaced in 4/2026. Just a poorly functioning and built appliance. I replaced whirlpool appliances with whirlpool appliances because historically they were built and performed well. This is not the case with this model.

Great fridge for a year!

Purchased the stainless steel version of this fridge December 2024. compressor/inverter went bad and had to be replaced February 2026. Lasted barely 2 months and went bad again within 2 months after Whirlpool tech replaced the parts. Great fridge if you want to purchase another fridge in a year

Worst fridge

It has been a nightmare had to repair it 2 times within 3 years, last repair was 5 months ago and now it’s broken again, I’ve thrown food more than the cost of it, last time buying whirlpool, I’d rather pay for a new fridge than to fix this bad designed useless fridge!

Fail

Whirlpool failed with this one! I wanted to love it and although we are still using it and it does a good job keeping food frozen in the freezer and cold in the main compartment, there are many other issues. The ice maker doesn't work because the genius who designed it, put the wiring harness down in the corner of door jam where it rubs until the wires are actually cut in half. Not worth it

Ice and water fails

This fridge is now 3 years old. I researched it like crazy and though I had made the right decision. It was fine for the first two years, but then the ice tray started cracking. The water then started to go to a dribble. Things freeze if it is on the side or the back of the fridge. I have been through 4 ice makers and I open up the ice maker every Monday now to clear out all the ice gathered on top of the machine and check the tray for cracks.

Great volume and design.
