Terrible redo

I bought the original version of this paint stick back in ‘91. It worked perfectly and I painted my entire kitchen, walls and ceiling, two coats each, in record time. I reused it multiple times over the next few years with no problems. It was amazing! paints well but setup/cleanup is a horror

I have used this product numerous times over the last few years and LOVE the way it paints, HOWEVER whoever designed the battery compartment should be fired --- trying to get the batteries in takes longer than painting the room! they just do NOT fit properly! and then there is clean up, wow, another nightmare -- takes forever and very messy.

Debated buying this, I’m glad I did 10/10 happy

My wife and I were about to redo a room for our baby in our new house. Iv just usually used the hand rollers in the past and was wanting to try something different. I saw this and was debating on buying it and I’m glad I did. In a room similar to the one I used the smart roller I completed in easily half the time AND used half the paint I couldn’t believe it. This already paid for its self, Im able to return the two cans I usually would need to finish a room when I painted by hand roller before!...

Don't buy

I have loved this product for many years, but they redesigned it and it doesn't work anymore. It leaks now even on the first day of use! I even ordered another one thinking that I just got a bad one. I ended up throwing both in the trash! I wasted my money and am very sorry that they decided to change a design that worked so wonderfully. I will not buy another one and told all my friends that I had recommended it to that they had changed the design and not to buy it now.

I'll never paint without one ever again

I painted my entire 40 X 60 shop on plywood with this roller and it worked like a champ! Anyone that says these rollers dont work obviously dont know how to paint. One person below said something about using more paint to paint a room than with a regular roller - NOT POSSIBLE unless you used a different paint on a different surface! This roller is KING!!

I’ll stick to my old roller

I bought this a month ago but barely able to use it. It was much more difficult to use than a traditional roller. Also, it used more paint than my traditional roller. I used 3/4 can of paint on half of the bedroom when it only took one can of paint for the master bedroom and restroom. Unfortunately I can’t even return it.

Great time saver

I found that my old electric power roller had stopped working properly and purchased this paint stick ahead of painting a room. Worked great once the roller was fully loaded. It hits the square foot it advertises. A real time saver. Onlvy down side is cleanup, forgot all the steps to get it clean but the time saved going back and forth to tray made up for it.

Greatest paint accessory ever.

I have owned and used several of these and I will not paint a room without one. The ONLY problem I have is I keep loosing parts after cleaning them.

Great idea.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to use my smart roller instead of a regular paint brush and roller to repaint my bathroom. It worked like a charm, set up was easier than anticipated, it was easy to use, and the clean up, a snap. A really great idea.

Cumbersome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It takes longer to paint with this roller than it does with a regular manual roller. Attachment for the tube filler and the paint can is very flimsy. Potential could be a good piece of equipment if it was easier to reload which would allow you to move quicker.

Well, I liked it

There's a lot of complaints about this device in reviews but overall, I liked it. Assembling was fairly easy and using it to paint the wall was easy as well. Oddly i'm speckled with little dots of paint because it seemed to do that.

Practical Tool

I have used this tool on 5 different occasions and it has worked perfectly each time. Saves a tremendous amount of time with not having to go back to the paint pan every 30 seconds. The cleaning is simple if you break down the components but you have to really make sure to get all the paint out of the roller if you hope to use it again. I would recommend that you buy a second roller just to have on hand. I would recommend this product. It has treated me very well.

It’s just to difficult to use

I personally think it’s to difficult to use/clean out. I used it once and I was just dripping paint everywhere off the roller. There was either to much paint or not enough paint on the roller. I don’t know if it was the paint I used but I didn’t feel like I got good coverage when it dried. I ended up having to go over it a second time. A bucket and grid just makes a more even roll and I can get the extra paint off the roller before it starts coming out the side.

Alright but not good enough

It sticks out too much on one side which makes it a little hard to use. The suction thing to get paint in the roller wasn't really good either.

ROLLER KEEPS POPPING OFF!!!

I had one one of these rollers before bought both through homedepot, first one did fairly well. This one is a joke the roller has popped off 8x+ on a small closet... I tried bearly pushing on it and still pops off and also doesnt cover areas without a little pressure which renders it usless... Once it pops off a glob of paint splatters everywhere which leads to am exhausting amout of clean up time! Would return back to homedepot, but threw the recipt away because I placed my trust in Wagner and...

First use amazing

So the reason for only three stars is because no matter how well you clean all components after the first use the paint doesn't spread evenly. The first use was wonderful, we we're able to paint the kitchen and living room in one evening. But the next day when we went to paint the dining room the paint wanted to come out only one side, also causing paint to drip onto floor. Paint roller

Painting always leaves me sore from bending and I nearly always have more paint on myself and the surroundings than the item I’m painting. This roller took care of both issues! I was able to fill the reservoir easily and the time savings being able to paint such a large area was wonderful. There was very little dripping and splattering too so clean up was a breeze. The unit it self has to be cleaned, but it was far less work than I anticipated. Can’t wait to paint the next room!

Good value, and it works well

Here is what I like about this product. 1) It is affordable - a little more than a good brush. Even if it lasts for 5 sessions of painting, it's still worth it. 2) If something wears out or doesn't get cleaned properly, you can always get parts, and the parts are very affordable. 3) It works well. It's not perfect, but like with anything, it takes practice. Keep it up Wagner - your innovation and affordability are awesome.
