Would RecommendWith oil based primers becoming very difficult to find in my state, this is the best alternative to oil primer I’ve been able to find (for exterior use, can use shellacs for interior).

This primer is MAGIC!
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was repairing old plaster walls after removing wallpaper in an 1890's Victorian. After using the Bonding Primer, the walls were amazingly improved and ready for paint. We used Valspar Reserve and it looks professionally done. HUGE improvement!

Definitely 💯
Would RecommendWe have been working on our house for over a year and have been using kilz, the odor and dripping factor was terrible, clean up was even worse. This is now our go to primer and sealer!!
Paint
Would RecommendNo complaints. This is a great product.
Would RecommendThis product has great coverage and really bonds to weathered surfaces.
Hopeful
Would Not RecommendHopefully no bleed through, I was told by the employee that it works as well as Kiltz- I sure hope so otherwise I will have to reprimand and paint again. Is I needs to I will get my supplies elsewhere
Adhesion was not as expected!
Would Not RecommendI haven't used it extensively but for a couple of project I used it adhesion wasn't as expected or claimed.

good primer
used 2 coats works well
This product is inferior.
Would Not RecommendThe product is inferior, I wanted Kilz, apparently Lowe’s doesn’t sell it anymore. They recommended this product, after three coats, the stain still appears. Doesn’t quite do the job that it advertises.

This "Bonding" Primer doesn't work!!!
Would Not RecommendDo NOT Buy this product! It is supposed to be a "Bonding" Primer....but it doesn't Bond at all! I painted my Bathroom Tile and Shower with it twice....and gave it 3 days to dry in a climatized environment. The first bit of water on it makes it come up. I want my money back!!!

Excellent Performance
Would RecommendThis primer has produced excellent results. It has adhered very well to lightly sanded oil-based gloss finishes. It is thick and as a result fills in minor gaps, cracks, blemishes, etc that aren't served very well with sealants. It dries uniformly in color and texture. Doesn't leave brush strokes. I like using it to restore really battered base and door trim. Brings it back to a like new profile. Also like using it on new trim work to achieve a more homogeneous base finish, especially where mult...
Does not bond well
Would Not RecommendWe followed the instructions, even sanded despite it not being required. Still, the primer scraped right off. Despite being told, and per instructions that it doesn't require sanding and will bond to glossy surfaces- this is misleading and now we're out supplies and our cabinet needs way more work than original. Lowes refunded our money no issue and the manager said Valspar would contact me. She's followed up with them a couple times, and I've heard nothing at all. Lowes is great and stands behi...

Grat bonding primer
Would RecommendGreat for priming stained woodwork. Sand the poly coat to rough it up first, then use this to cover the stained wood. One bonding primer coat, then whatever finish paint.

As primer
Would Not RecommendUsed on non painted plywood - put on thick —wood bled through
Thanks for leaving a review. You might see some bleed through in the first coat, but it will seal itself in the first coat. A second coat of Primer a... Read More
The best cover up paint I’ve used!
Would RecommendBar none this paints thickness makes it go on fast in one coat but cover a ton of issues from texture problems and cracks/chips/spider webbing fine lines to staining (even tobacco). It even hides long ago bad drywall taping that shows through even after years/layers of subsequent paint. It makes a chore much faster and the end result much more satisfying.
