Spend your money on a better primer

Does the job, but thick and messy to apply
Used this Valspar PVA primer ahead of a semi-gloss topcoat and had a similar experience to the Valspar paint I used on the same project. As a primer, it does seal the drywall and gives the topcoat something to grip, so functionally it works. The issue is the consistency. It’s very thick going on — heavier than other PVA primers I’ve used — which leads to drips, splatter, and uneven buildup if you’re not careful. It takes more effort to work it out smoothly with a roller, and cleanup is a chore. ...
