Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the humane, non-lethal design as the trap's greatest strength, with many reporting immediate success catching and releasing mice alive. The reusable construction appeals to cost-conscious users, and peanut butter bait proves highly effective. Reviewers consistently note the intuitive setup and clear release mechanism make it easy to use. However, a notable minority report mice escaping by chewing through the end cap or dislodging the mechanism, while some find it fails to trigger with lighter mice or when bait is consumed without activation. Despite these concerns, most customers consider it a reliable, humane solution.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tomcat® Live Catch Mouse Trap is a catch-and-release option for your mouse infestation. Able to blend into any environment, the trap is designed to let you catch one mouse at a time without harming it. After catching a mouse you can release it to reuse the trap.

Works and good quality for price!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect timing! And it works! We recently found a mouse in our TOASTER. And found droppings in a cupboard. We were able to catch and release the little guy in less than 12 hours! Easy to use and remove critter.

Works
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was actually pretty easy to you. And now my cabinet is finally free from the mouse. I did have a bit of a hard time releasing but I think that was more cause I was nervous. I would definitely buy these.

Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I appreciate this Tomcat live catch mouse trap because it’s more humane than other traps. It’s effective, too, as we’ve used live traps in the past.

Catch and (immediately) Release!
Would Not RecommendI’ve found the trap snapped shut with bait gone and no mouse! It didn’t chew its way out. It found some way to get the bait and take off. This is incredibly frustrating!

Worked first night!
We bought three and caught Minnie Mouse on the first night. The only problem is that the mouse won’t leave I’m guessing due to fear. We took it to a field to release. How do we get him out?

Just because you hand a person a fishing pole- doesn't mean you get fish for life... This is the most fun I ever had catching anything... You do need a 2.0 model... That door hinge is crap- & needs a press to set button... A clear plastic insert for cleaning... & sky lights... I bait high to bring down the house (tip of a drinking straw on floss/tape can work)... Transfer to (any) container with a simple plastic bag.

Failure of a mouse trap
Would Not RecommendBought this Nov 11 2024. Used peanut butter on the rear door as directed. Set the trigger door as directed exactly as photo on back of package. Placed along a wall as directed. Delighted to see a mouse triggered it when I checked this morning. NO MOUSE! Peanut butter gone. More peanut butter and again, reset and placed. Several hours later I heard the door snap shut. NO MOUSE!! Peanut butter gone again.

I have been using these live catch traps for many years and have had reasonably good results. We usually let the mice out at our nearby park. My only problem is I reused the traps and missing many rear doors where you put the peanut butter is it possible for me to buy a dozen rear doors for live catch traps

Not Humane
Would Not RecommendI bought this trap with the best of intentions. I checked it every day and caught several in nearby snap traps before one went into this trap.. The one mouse I caught had spread peanut butter all over the inside of the trap and eventually perished in its own waste. Mice are not endangered. They are filthy, do a lot of damage and are one of the primary vectors of the ticks that carry Lyme disease, you don't want them in your house. Their purpose in the ecosystem is to be food. Give up on live tr...

Does not work.
I bought the live catch mouse trap about 2 months ago. There were at least a dozen false triggers, I lost count, i.e., the trap shut but there was no mouse inside. Then the ultimate: a mouse chewed open a bag of almond slivers, took the pieces into the "trap" and chewed them up, then apparently had the peanut butter bait for dessert. And then left the trap!

Waste of money.
Easy to set up. Safe and clean. Didn’t catch a single mouse!!! 12 times between 3 different traps. All empty and bait gone!! I have ninja mice!! Don’t waste your money just because you want to be humane. Slap clap break back traps are the key!!

Mouse is smarter then traps
Would Not RecommendBought this awhile ago, and it didn't hold the mouse in it. And last night I could hear the mouse in the trap, but when I got up, the trap didn't even go off. I wanted to catch and release but unfortunately I will have to set the bait trap to see if that works, cause I really don't want an infestation.

Great success with easy-to-use product
I have had GREAT success with this model, using solely peanut butter as bait. Over the past 2 weeks, I've caught (and released) 6 mice. They get a little snack while they're waiting to be released.

Only works if you're lucky
Would Not RecommendThis is an ingenious design but only seems to work if you're lucky. I did manage to capture two mice. However after that, the three traps I have trigger with nothing inside but mouse droppings. They eat my peanut butter and somehow manage to leave. Traps are always set properly so it's nothing I'm doing. Now I have to look for another solution.

Bad instructions
Would RecommendI did not learn how to set the trap properly the pictures on the side of the box did not make it clear about how to set it up they need to change the pictures on the side of the box or add a paper with better puctures

It worked!
Would RecommendThe live trap worked perfectly but only on smooth surface. When I placed it on an area rug then on a puppy training pad, the mouse was able to get in, eat the food and trip the door on its way out. However, on the bare floor, it closed right away. I recommend using more than one trap in different areas that are quiet. It might take some patience. Be careful when carrying the trap outside, consider putting it in a box first, then taking it out for release.

Mouse treat!
I set this trap with peanut butter & they eat it and somehow leave. A LOT of droppings in the trap. The door does snap shut, but no mouse
