Does the job.

There's not a whole lot to say about the plate. It doesn't completely prevent the switch from being used but avoids it being flipped inadvertently.

Great Design and Durable Material

Until I bought a package of two Switch Guard Wall Plates, I had never seen such a thing in use; clearly there was a need for the product...but I never saw one in the Electrical Products area at either of the two Big Box Stores or at the two small Hometown Hardware Stores at which I shop. Thank goodness for On-Line Shopping! Great design and durable material. Installation of product is quick and easy. Product is great value and exceeded my expectations.

Exactly what we needed, easy to install, and looks great.

These single gang switch covers are great for covering a light switch you want left on such as for an outdoor light with a photo eye. The side of the cover is open so the switch is operable if needed. It keeps someone from accidentally switching it off by mistake.

works as expected

NOt a child safety device. Went in to it knowing that. We have a light that is operated with a pull chain as lo g as the switch is left on. Thisnis just a reminder to not use the switch. Does its job.

A must for boiler switch

This will keep the kids from "accidentally" turning off the boiler switch although they know is the boiler switch. My only negative is that the hole to turn on and off is a bit small this I need to use my pinky to get access to the actual switch.

Works Perfectly

Does just what it says it will do. The product information tells you it has a side opening that you can still put a finger in to occasionally turn on or off a light. Anybody that is ranking this product three stars or less did not bother to read the product description. Failing to read the description is not a product shortfall but operator error and is not fair to the manufacturer. And NOWHERE does it say "child proof!"

exactly what I need

I use a lot of Philips Hue smart bulbs where it is required that I leave the light switch on. These unobtrusive covers are perfect to protect them from accidentally getting turned off. One side is open allowing for a manual override if necessary. They come with two in the package. Just be gentle when screwing them in to place as they can be cracked if you are too rough with installation. :)

Does exactly what I wanted

Installed a Ring spotlight on side of house and needed to keep the switch that controls that light on. This was perfect. 90 second install. Back out the two screws, place switch cover over holes and put the screws back in. Done

Works well

This switch guard works well to prevent some by accidentally turning a switch on or off. Looks good and well made. It is NOT a child proof switch cover, one side is open to aloud you access to the switch with out taking the cover off.

Not childproof

I bought this thinking it would be the solution to my 2 and a half year old from turning on her bedroom light multiple times during the night. She figured out the small access opening in about 2 seconds. You'll have to tape the opening closed and cross your fingers. Knowing my child she'll pull the tape off. Wouldn't recommend for child proofing...the search continues :/

Great For What It Does

Note that this comes in packs of 2 - a fact that is not obvious in its description. This product is a great, clear plastic version of the AmerTac Westek product that is available in white on Amazon. The clear is better, because it automatically matches any decor. The switch guard does exactly what it is supposed to do: prevent you or your guests from accidentally turning on or off light switches that are supposed to remain on or off at all times, such as those powering a timer, or a light wit...

WORKS, BUT SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR CHILD PROOFING

To confirm with another reviewer, this should NOT be used for child proofing however is great for preventing accidental flipping of the switch. It also took my 2 year old seconds to find the opening on the reverse side and flip the switch. A clear photo of the product and/or a description that there is an open side would be VERY helpful.

Terrific products for household with adults

Works great. Only in household with older kids and adults ( package never claim as "childproof". ) Helpful in prevent turn off the outlet with my timer on for lamps and motion detector night lights !! And if I change mind I can easily turn it back on since its partial open on one side. Got a pack for my elder parents and will buy more for gifts !

Not childproofing, but useful for adults

My wife and I were unintentionally turning on the ceiling heater in our bathroom when we switched on the light and fan. I was considering replacing the switch with a timer, but this switch guard was a simpler solution. The picture is lousy: the center is an arch which covers the motion of a standard toggle switch and one side of the arch is covered while the other side is open. The entire piece is clear acrylic. It would be better if the manufacturer included a removable cover for the other side...

The packaging is very misleading

The packaging leads you to believe that the product will cover the light switch entirely, locking it in either on or off. They use locking on the packaging several times. This isn't the case. This prevents you from accidentally brushing up against it and toggling it, but it by no means locks the switch. It took my 1 yr old about 10 seconds to get his finger in the open side and flip the switch.
