What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this potting soil for excellent plant growth, robust results, and strong value compared to premium alternatives. Many report thriving houseplants and vegetables, with several crediting the included fertilizer for eliminating additional feeding needs. However, a notable group expresses frustration with inconsistent texture, describing it as predominantly wood chips or dry sandy dirt rather than traditional soil. Some report plant damage, visible mold, or soil gnats. Despite these concerns, most customers consider the affordability and growth results worthwhile.

Would Not RecommendBought this brand instead of what I usually buy, Miracle Gro. I planted herbs in planter boxes like I have for the past 20 years. This mix has mulch mixed in which is fine. None of the herb plants have actually grown all that much. It’s like they’re stunted. I have 12 different herbs, none have grown well. They have been planted for 4 months so there should be more growth. I dumped out all the boxes and replanted the herbs in miracle gro mix

Nothing will grow in it
Would Not RecommendI bought Sta-Green thinking I would save a few $$ over the leading brand. That was a big mistake! This stuff is coarsely ground wood and nothing can grow it in. I wasted weeks trying to grow seeds and small plants and now this year I won't have the usual lush deck flower garden that I usually have. Lowe's should pull this from its inventory and not sell it. It is a disservice to customers to even stock this.
Terrible...
Would Not RecommendThis "soil" is absolute garbage. It is mulch like material. I did an experiment with my cherry tomatoes, one plant in sta green and one plant in miracle grow. they received the same fertilizer, water and sun, the results: MG plant green and healthy, sta green plant was stunted and a yellow/green!

I purchased a few weeks ago and it seems to be helping my poor flowers that I thought were dead.
There were some lumps of clay and bits of plastic trash in the bag.

Good product!
Would RecommendI have been very pleased with this product.
Worst potting soil you can buy.
Would Not RecommendThis is the worst potting medium I have ever purchased. It is mostly coarsely ground wood. Plants will not grow in it. I wasted weeks of good weather trying to make plants grow. This product should not be sold.
