What Customers Are Saying
The Grabit Screw Extractor has received mixed reviews. Some customers found it effective in removing stripped or rusted screws, while many others reported issues such as the bit breaking, the screw not being extracted, or the product not functioning as intended. The quality and durability of the product also appear to be concerns, with some reviewers stating that the metal was too soft. The consensus seems to be that the product is hit-or-miss, with success depending on the specific situation and proper technique.

Would Not RecommendBroke off a #8 bolt over-tightening it, that was in a large amount of antisieze. bolt could have been turned by hand if there was something to grab. The drill head on this worked fine, but the treads to tap into the old screw/bolt were almost non-existant. This bit never had a hope off gripping the part it supposed to be removing. Can't imagine this working on anything that actually has some resistance to turning...
Works, but directions are useless
Would RecommendI had two stripped out screw heads on a door hinge, so I got this, and got right to work burnishing out the screw head. I used it on a pretty high speed, which I don't know if is correct. In any case, the bit had a lot of trouble grabbing on. Eventually, with a lot of pressure and very slow speed, it did eventually bite. The second one I did I didn't bother burnishing and just used the extractor bit on the much rougher partially-stripped philips head, and that came right out. I would recommend ...
Works great!
Would RecommendUsed this to remove a small, stripped screw when replacing the dead bolt on our front door. Instructions were simple and easy to follow, and it worked perfectly.
Didn't work for me at all!
Would Not RecommendGranted the screws I was trying to use this on were quite stripped out to begin with, but all this thing did was either 1) nothing at all, or 2) helped to snap the heads off the screw, making it even harder to get them out. This was recommended by a Lowe's employee who said that they actually use them all the time in the store, so I guess it must work for some people, but it sure didn't do a thing for me!
Works Well but Only Use Variable Speed Drill
Would RecommendThe product worked well w/ simple instructions, I was able to pull out four 4" wood screws. It is as easy as drilling out then flipping the bit; make sure to take your time the first time when drilling out as there is only so much to drill out of the screws. Only downfall is that it should be used with a variable speed drill otherwise the quick torque of a one-speed drill can break the bit- as it did in my case.
Worked lust like it was designed to do
Would RecommendWorked great removing very small rusted screws with stripped heads from a washing machine. Follow instructions included with tool and screws are out in no time.
Disappointment
Would Not RecommendThis product did not work, I never got this to drill in the broken screw.
Grabit screw Extractor
Would RecommendProduct worked as designed to do. I had a 2" screw in a 2x4 that I striped the head on. Because the screw was in so tight took it me several attempts of reaming, then switching the bit around and extracting it. A variable speed drill works best for this because you need to back the screw out really, really slow otherwise you'll have to ream it, back it out rearm i again and back it several times.
No problem!
Would RecommendProduct was easy to use and it took the stripped screw right out. No issues.
So easy...no worries
Would RecommendI had a stripped screw in our ceiling fan, and I was so afraid to use any product, because I was afraid that I would make it worse. I shouldn't have worried, because this product was so easy to use and worked immediately. So worth the money!
worked as intended
Would RecommendDid the job in about 30 seconds. I've spent 15 min. to 30 min. trying to do the same thing without it. Paid for itself with this one use.
Easy to Use!
Would RecommendI struggled with a screwdriver in the dark for too long while trying to change a broken and painted-over outlet screw in my house. I finally gave up and went to Lowes to purchase this. Got home and had the screw out in about 30 seconds. I won't hesitate to buy the larger sizes in the future, should the need arise.
Great buy
Would RecommendGood product. I have used some that wouldn't drill the screw before, this one did quite well. I was very pleased to be able to use it in the quick chuck of my driver.

The Grabit metal was not hard enough!
Would RecommendThe Grabit metal was not hard enough to drill into the screw heads. I had to go back to the store and buy a carbide drill bit. After drilling into the screw heads with the carbide bit, the Grabit did do the job of extracting the screws. I couldn't have done without it, but I hope I never need to use it again!
can't believe it worked so well
Would RecommendI researched this item on line before my purchase but still had doubts. Went to lowes and bought it and it really did work. The instructions could have been a little better but after I read up on how to use it properly it did the job the first time.
easy to use and great quality
Would Recommendone of the easiest to use screw removal tools I have. Simple and effective.
