Better than plastic
I got tired of them braking so I got this. Metal stops it from breaking but handle is soft rubber and bends if you use a lot of litter.

Don't Care for Handle
Would Not RecommendI needed a sturdy scoop for my cat's box because he puts out a lot of urine due to weak kidneys. Cleaning requires quite a bit of leverage and plastic scoops weren't up to the job. The metal rake on this scoop is strong and high quality. The handle is comfortable to hold, but I quickly discovered it bends too much to effectively rake out large clumps. It's frustrating and takes extra effort. Without a solid core running through the entire handle, I'm not sure how long it will last.
