What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the mulch for its vibrant, long-lasting color that dramatically enhances landscapes and flower beds. Many highlight easy spreading, consistent texture, and excellent value as key strengths, with reviewers noting the color remains rich for over a year. However, some report mold growth inside bags, coarse texture inconsistencies, and occasional color fading after rain. Despite these drawbacks, most customers consider it a worthwhile purchase and frequently repurchase based on appearance and affordability.

Moldy mulch
We bought the black mulch and it was very moist and moldy. Multiple bags were like this.

Red and brown mulch
The mulch Lowe's sells is a great quality mulch. It always has been. I am not impressed with the plastic bags the red mulch comes in. There were a lot (and I do mean a LOT) of busted bags of red mulch. It could be the customers are brutal in handling the bags. So I don't know if the bags are of poor quality or the customers are absolutely careless. By the number of broken bags, the associates are NOT cleaning the mess up.

Soul Soothing
Would RecommendI love this Scott's mulch, it really does hold the color for a long time! Better than anything I've used before. It looks pretty with my plants in my zen garden for soul soothing.

Not great
Would Not RecommendColor seems good, time will tell if it holds up. The reason for missing stars is two things- mold and debris/garbage in the mulch. Texture was definitely NOT consistent, nor was size. Less than impressed with trash and mold at this price (or ever actually).
