Would RecommendDidn't use these braces this time, but hopefully in photo you can see how I might have used them. They would have and will be painted; they accept paint very well. I've used just about all of their cousins in every project I do. I know there is a tool out there that could bend them however, they will NOT be bent without a serious effort and the right tool. Immensely strong and sturdy!

Would Not RecommendThese aren't even slightly countersunk, so wood screw heads do not sit flush. For many jobs that's not a big deal but, for about the same price, galvanized nail plates (for which you have to provide your own screws) would be stronger and last longer with exactly the same deficit. These plates are supposed to be neat and cheap but without countersinking they're really neither.
