Tried to use the edger to avoid taping the ceiling while painting over an existing wall color, but could still see a strip of the old color after using the edger. In the end we ended up having to tape the ceiling so we could paint all the way up to the ceiling edge. I think if you were painting over white walls it would do the job fine, but in my case it was the wrong tool for the job.

Works fine. I don’t know why the complaints. Ok, yes if you use it aggressively, or for more than a wall or two, you may start getting specs. Defy or reusable. Better quality at a higher price would be better for high quality jobs.
