Bungee cords works better than anything I know of.
I bought several size bungee cords, because I need a few, but was not sure what sizes I would need. These will work on at least one of the items I need them for. I think Bungee cords work better than ropes, etc.

Would Not RecommendThese bungee cords are fine for most things but when left exposed to sunlight the exterior coating peels off. I've had one of the cords break off at the hook. They are marginal for outdoor use if left on full time. These cords need better UV protection!
