Regular screws just won't do with cement board.
Would RecommendTight bond. Has the right size bit included in the package. Works great with Hardy Board.

Self-drilling? Not for me.
Would Not RecommendUsed with 1/2" Hardie screwing in to the rough side during my shower remodel. The Lowes app recommended these when I ordered the boards and I didn't think twice. Maybe I got a bad box, but the effort to get them to self-drill was much more than it seems like it should have been. Lots of problems with them flying away before they started to set regardless of drill speed. It's as if they were not sharp enough.
