This is a much better design that my last smoker through z grills. Ive only used it once but I can tell I will enjoy it.

Have had an original Pit Boss for 10 years and live it - invested in the new technology and larger space.

Second Pit Boss

My first Pit Boss was wonderful and I was still learning it. This is my second one after I gave the other one away to upgrade.

Initial Review

It was between the Pro 1600 or a Traeger. I chose the Pit Boss because from the initial look and feel operating it. Felt as though it was made with a much better quality of parts. Design. And easy to use instructions made the decision for me.

Wonderful grill/smoker. It has all the bells and whistles to get the job done. I bought this one to replace an older pit boss that quit working on me.

Two dead units within a year

I was denied store return and that violates Maine implied warranty laws and have been talking to Maine attorney general. I was informed that state can and will fine stores up to $10,000 Everytime they deny Maine implied warranty laws and they'll also be responsible for triple damages when I bring it in front of a court. I'm sending demand letters to Lowe's corporate and Dansons pit boss parent company. Maine residents have been getting jerked around by box stores denying they have to follow stat...

This is my second Pit boss grill and it is working well for me I got the second one because I needed more size to cook, larger meals, faster

Upgrade

I've had the Austin Xl for at least 7 years. We loved it and never had an issue except replacing the igniter one time.

Do not buy

Stopped working after using it a few times. It keeps giving me the igniter malfunction and I can’t seem to get a replacement part anywhere.

Fingers crossed! We are tired of our pellet smokers acting up. Hopefully this one works for a while.

Constantly throwing codes

Control panel wouldn’t update causing the grill to throw codes. Called pit boss and got a new controller panel, this one updated but still throws malfunction codes. Nothing that’s been replaced on this grill has fixed anything, the grill is obviously a lemon but I’m not able to get a refund or replacement as I bought it during winter and didn’t start trying to use it until spring, putting me out of the return window. Now it’s just an expensive garage ornament. Will be switching to a Traeger.

I love my grill and I recommend people to buy the Pro Series 1600 wood pellet grill

I chose 4 out of 5 stars because it is an amazing grill. If I could chose 4.5, I would but, that is not an option. The cleanup is the only pain in the tookus. The grill makes the most amazing burgers I have ever had. The smoke profile and temperature accuracy is very impressive. I would rather have this grill over a Traeger. 5 out of 5 stars would be for me an easier clean up and better light inside the grill. I still highly recommend the grill. It is the best grill I have owned.
