What Customers Are Saying
This diamond-coated drill bit performs well for drilling holes in ceramic, glass, and tile materials, but requires careful technique. It works best with water to keep the bit cool and clear debris, though dry drilling is more difficult and can cause faster wear. The bit can be challenging to start and keep steady, especially on smooth surfaces, but using a jig or angling the bit initially can help. The bit's durability varies, with some customers reporting multiple uses and others finding it wore out or bent after just a few uses, particularly on thicker or harder materials. Overall, with the right technique and patience, this diamond bit can create clean, chip-free holes in a variety of ceramic and tile surfaces, though for more demanding applications, a higher-quality bit may be required.

Worked...then broke
Would Not RecommendNeeded a 1/4" bit to anchor a kitchen island to a tile floor. This bit was challenging to work with, took A LOT of time to actually drill through the tile and only worked for 6 holes until it just twisted in the drill. I've done this before in a shower but with a different bit and different size. Saw this bit at Lowe's and thought I'd give it shot. Quality just isn't there like the other brand of bit and certainly didn't last nearly as long as it should have.
Pretty good bit
Would RecommendI had 12- 1/4 holes to drill in porcelain tile. I drilled 6 completely with this bit and decided to just start the remaining 6 after it heated up some and twisted a little. No big deal.. I'll just swap out to the new Spyder for the last 6. Well, the Spyder only lasted 4 1/2 holes. So I ended up going back to the Kobalt to finish the job. Even though it was a little twisted. I made it work. All was drilled with water. Low to medium speed with some pressure using my corded Dewalt drill.
Glass and Ceramic drill bit. Poor Quality for a bi
Would Not RecommendThe bit was recommended by the employee in the window department. No matter what I did the bit just ground itself down smooth

Poor Quality
Would Not RecommendThe shank/shaft is so thin it bent soon after I started to use it without applying a lot of pressure. I put it in a bench vise to straighten it out to finish the one and only cut it was able to make. I m a contractor and was very disappointed and should have known better to buy a cheap Kobolt tool. I ended up buying a Starrett bit which was American made and much better quality and stronger to finish the job.
Drilling porcelain tile
Would RecommendThis drill bit worked well, I had to drill 9 holes to install my shower door. It drilled perfectly, The key way to do it is start at a 45 degree angle so the drill bit won’t walk around.once it starts you slowly move it to a straight angle.keep the drill wet and clean it out after every hole and you should have no problems.

Done in One (hole)
Would Not RecommendThis bit's hollow shaft bent halfway through 5/16" thick ceramic tile, rendering it useless for a 2nd hole, same as described by a user 1-year ago. Very disappointed, particularly as it was recommended by the department's staff member (who was otherwise helpful).
