Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 286 -Piece Metric and standard (SAE) Mechanics Tool Set with Hard Case
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the tools as durable, well-made, and professional-grade, with strong ratchets and high-quality sockets ideal for home repairs and beginners. The comprehensive selection of SAE and metric sizes, deep-well sockets, and assorted bits meets expectations and offers excellent value. However, the storage case receives significant criticism for jamming drawers and poor internal design that compromises usability. A few customers report missing components or minor defects like hard-to-read markings. Despite storage issues, most reviewers consider the tool set a worthwhile purchase.

Overall great toolbox
Would RecommendA lot of useful tools packed into this set. Great addition to the shop. Only thing I wish was different is that the open ended wrenches are short decreasing their potential.

Ratchet could be better.
Would RecommendThe ratchet broke the very first use, thankfully it is a warrantied item. The sockets are good and clearly marked.

Missing socket
Would Not RecommendThe case is rattally and the drawers do not slide out very easily. The handles of the ratchets are very slim as if they were designed for a child or someone with small hands. The set does not come with an 18 mm socket. One that is widely used at mechanic shops.
2nd delivery charge for a purchase on one order
Would RecommendThis was delivered in a HUGE truck. Not sure why I had 2 delivery charges for one order.
Poor quality and the warranty is worthless
Would Not RecommendThe 3/8" ratchet is poorly made, the direction lever failed and fell out. Despite the advertised "hassle free warranty" for Kobalt tools, Lowe's will not provide a replacement ratchet unless I return the ENTIRE tool set in the original case! All 297 pieces must be returned. Every Allen wrench, every screwdriver bit, every socket must be present or NO RETURN FOR YOU!
