Ratings & Reviews for Kobalt 170 -Piece Metric and standard (SAE) Mechanics Tool Set with Hard Case
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the comprehensive tool selection, quality construction, and excellent value, with most expressing strong satisfaction. The set includes SAE and metric sockets, color-coded bands for easy identification, laser-etched numbers, and a crisp, robust ratchet with strong retention. Chrome-plated finish and solid materials inspire confidence in longevity. However, customers consistently criticize the storage case, reporting drawers that jam, fail to secure properly, or slide out uncontrollably, with tools frequently falling out. Many find the case design impractical and plan to replace it. Despite this significant drawback, most consider the tools themselves excellent value.

My set missing a socket, replacement dn’t fit
Would RecommendThe pieces come in bags and you have to organize them into their nesting spots. So if you are replacing a disorganized set, the only benefit is that they’re clean.

Love the tools, hate the box
Would Not RecommendThis box is a joke. The drawers are hard to slide in and out, which makes the sockets jump out of their holders. The slightest bump also does this because they are not held in very well in the first place. I pulled one drawer out and it got stuck, had to give it a little more pull and dumped the whole thing on the ground. I then promptly kicked the box to the curb and will never buy another one without opening it in the store first.
Hi Nick, thank you for your feedback. The drawer situation can be remedied by applying a silicon-based spray to the edges.
great tools - horrible box, just like my last set.
Would Not RecommendIt took me about 30 minutes this time to put all the sockets back in the drawers after they all fell to the ground, scattering my sockets everywhere. I thought the drawers were locking closed when the handle was up, like when you are carrying it, but NO. What a mess.

Nice set but the dawers are a little tight
Would RecommendThe tool box has a place for everything that's included plus some extra room. The drawers are plastic on plastic and are a little tough to pull out so I'll try some silicone lubricant.
