Would RecommendBought a new one that I beat up over the years. The flashlight portion still works and I’ll keep using it. The new one works just as well for both functions. It is a well built product and I’m very satisfied with it. I’ll get another replacement if I kill this one.

Good Idea But Poor Execution
Would Not RecommendGenerally Klein tools are excellent but this tested missed the mark. Actually, I would call it a fail. Here are the reasons why: - The metal tips at the end of the probes are TINY. So tiny in fact that if you are planning to test an outlet, you won't be able to unless you unscrew it from the wall and touch the terminal screws. - I tried to test voltage on some wires and again, the metal tips are so small that I had a hard time actually touching the stripped ends of the wire. Two testers, both rubbish
Would Not RecommendMy Lowes was selling this tester in a package with the NCVT-1XT, a stripped-down model with just a single range and no flashlight. The NCVT-1XT stopped working shortly after I first put the batteries in (and, yes, I tried a fresh set). The fancier tester sometimes works, but only on the low voltage range. Sometimes the flashlight works; usually it flashes two or three times and goes out again, as another reviewer mentioned. These are just junk.

Would RecommendThe tool is easy to use, hover the wand near the wire in question and it will beep with an audible cue and show red if a current is present. The flashlight also is handy for illuminating the back of electrical boxes. Thanks to this device, I was able to confidently add several smart light switches on my own and save a few bucks vs bringing in an electrian.
