What Customers Are Saying
The deglosser product has mixed results. Some customers found it effective at removing the glossy finish and preparing the surface for painting, while many others were disappointed, stating it did not work as advertised and they still had to resort to sanding. The overall sentiment is that the product works for some but not all applications, and does not completely eliminate the need for sanding in many cases. Customers recommend carefully following instructions and using a rougher cloth or sponge to get the best results.

At first I wasn’t sure about the product because it didn’t seem to make the cabinets I was using it on look any different but I went with it and the new paint stuck fine so I guess it worked properly. I just thought it would make it look less shiny finished.

Good to de gloss surfaces
Would RecommendReasonably safe to use and effective. I used it to de gloss MDF based panelling to allow paint to stick. Also, for applying paint to semigloss surface on molding. Worked well.

JASCO Sander Deglosser
Would RecommendI've used this product for many years to prepare previously painted or varnished surfaces for painting. It's easy to use and leaves the surface clean and ready for recoating. I never had a problem getting a new finish to stick to the surface after treating it with the deglosser.

Didn't do what I needed it to do
Would Not RecommendI used this product to strip 40 y/o lacquer off of a dresser. I followed the instructions but it just didn't work for this application. I am not saying this is a bad product I am just saying it didn't do what I wanted it to do.

Sand anyway!!
A pro painter of 35 years told me he always sands the cabinets with sandpaper( grit uncertain) and then puts the liquid sander, then a oil base primer. Then follow us with at least 2 coats of paint.
Easy Peasy
Would RecommendThis is so easy to use and 1000 times easier than sanding. Just wipe on let dry and paint over. No streaking. The only suggestion is use a thick glove since using regular latex gloves, the solution will break them down.
