What Customers Are Saying
The deglosser product has mixed results. Some customers found it effective at removing the glossy finish and preparing the surface for painting, while many others were disappointed, stating it did not work as advertised and they still had to resort to sanding. The overall sentiment is that the product works for some but not all applications, and does not completely eliminate the need for sanding in many cases. Customers recommend carefully following instructions and using a rougher cloth or sponge to get the best results.

Would Not RecommendThis stuff is worthless. I followed the directions carefully and applied four treatments. The thin coat of varnish to which I applied the deglosser stills shines like a new penny. I recommend you not waste your time or money.
Doesn’t Work
Would Not RecommendDoesn’t work for deglossing varnish at all. Huge waste of money. Stick with sandpaper and elbow grease.
Does nothing at all
Would Not RecommendI tried using this on some hideous wood paneling in my kitchen. I read and followed the directions - but it does absolutely nothing. My wood paneling looks exactly the same as it did before, even after two treatments. Don't waste your time and money.
Not a de glosser
Would Not RecommendDidn’t seem to do anything when used to de gloss Satin finish paint, even after two applications per instructions.
Indoor stained and coated trim gloss removal
Would RecommendProduct appears to degloss and roughen surface of stained and coated trim. Time will tell if paint coating is durable. I used Valspar primer and Sherwin Williams Infinity top coat.

Easy diy
Would RecommendUsed to get cabinets prepped to be painted for a kitchen makeover. Easy to use, didn't require much product to get the job done. Low odor which is great inside in winter

This product sucks
Would Not RecommendThis product sucks. I have used deglossers over the years to prep cabinets for painting and usually have used Sherwin-Williams. I was out of the Sherwin-Williams and I decided to try Jasco because I happened to be in Lowe’s. Yet, after deglossing and priming with good primer, The paint scratches off way too easy. I’m glad this didn’t happen on a customer’s job, but I’m not particularly thrilled that my own cabinets scratch off. Never again.

jasco paint prep/cleaner
Would Recommendthis product is very easy to use and does not have a harsh odor. we did wear gloves and eye protection as instructed. however, we do not feel it did as good a job as we expected, so we will reapply. not a great inconvenience, but a little disappointing.

Doesn't really work
Would Not RecommendIt works like a degreaser but not for the purpose intended. The smell isn't bad. I coated my dressers pretty heavy and it left them very sticky. I will have to clean them before painting them. Good cleaner but doesn't remove the gloss or act like a "sanding" effect.
Better than sanding
Would RecommendThis DeGlosser is very fast compared to sanding and no mess! Cuts the project time and half!

Beyond my expectations
Would RecommendThis product is a miracle! I just tried it for the first time on a sealed wooden bench I wanted to paint. I painted this on, let it dry for 10-20 minutes, then used a paint with built-in primer and it looks like a professional finish! Makes the paint grab perfectly! Worked great on a radiator as well.

LOVE IT
Would RecommendI don't have any idea why I never knew about this before. I wish I'd known in 2010 when I repainted my kitchen cabinets...I wouldn't have had to sand. I know now. I used this on my built in shelves in the bathroom because I painted them before I remembered to prime. Worked like a charm. Now that I know, I'm never going to sand unless it's absolutely necessary. Saved me so much time and the cabinets look great. I don't have a pic because I'm not finished with the bathroom...you'll just have to tr...

Would RecommendWe have wood trim throughout the kitchen and wanted to update .My husband and I had removed spindles from a half wall . We had sanded down the ruff places but more was needed . We wanted to paint all the chair railing and door frame in the kitchen. It was overwhelmed to say the lest.. found the product on Pinterest and applied it as instructed. After using the deglosser and applying the paint over the casing where the spindles were I was so excited and continued using it to complete the job..t...
