Excellent 5/8" Woodboring Spade Drill Bit
Would RecommendThis 5/8" Woodboring Spade Drill Bit works very well. With the long Point at the end it isn't necessary to drill a pilot hole before starting, even when drilling at a slight angle, say 15 degrees as I did. This Spade Bit is sharp enough to cut cleanly into medium hardness wood which I was doing.

What were they thinking????
Would Not RecommendFor hundreds of years, wood working tools have had spurs to cut across the grain of wood. Saws have ATB, Stanley Planes have replaceable spurs on most of their rabbet and panel raising planes. Without spurs to cut the grain, wood grain rips, tears, and splinters. Someone at Irwin has disregarded the hundreds of years of development and removed the spurs from the Speedbor drill bit.. BUT.WHY????? They converted a great tool into a worthless, dull piece of metal that beats it's way through woo...

I bought this to put a few holes in studs to run new PEX plumbing through my bathroom. Very easy to use, the point holds it still so no bouncing or hopping. Very sharp, took about 3 seconds to get through a 2x4
