Igot it was cause i was doing a custom loft and needed to bore a 1" hole, 40" into solid beams eo i used this to get an extra 12" on my 24" paddle bit. Im pretty sure thats not manufacturer recommended , and after all the abuse, its still shiny and holding bits like it always has fornsone reason. Would RecommendGreat design for drilling a tunnel under your sidewalk for irrigation tubing and landscape lighting wire! Team three (3) of these 12" long 1/4" Edwin socket extenders with a Speedbore 1" dia. x 6" siral drill bit and you can drill a 36" long tunnel. Then, using a dead blow hammer, drive a 1 1/2" pvc pipe through the tunnel. The beauty of these extenders is that the LOCK together and will not come apart while drilling the long tunnel!
