What Customers Are Saying
The drill bit is described as sharp, durable, and effective for quickly and cleanly drilling holes through various types of wood, including hardwoods and old, rough-cut lumber. It was reported to outperform traditional spade bits. However, some users experienced issues with the bit pulling the drill forward too aggressively or causing excessive tear-out in certain materials. A small number of users also noted it did not perform well when drilling into live trees or encountered nails. Overall, the drill bit is well-suited for most common woodworking applications, but users should exercise caution and control when using it, especially in challenging materials.

Would RecommendI have been buying these Irwin bits for years. I’m a builder. These drill real nice, they work great in impact guns and they last for years. I replace them after they wear out. They last typically 2-3 years with bimonthly use. I like how if you purchase a set, you can replace them individually as they need replacing. 37 years in the trades, a true tradesman!

Binding Like Mad
Would Not RecommendBought this drill bit a couple of days ago to drill some holes in basic 2x4 boards. The initial speed tip did a nice job of drawing the bit to the wood but the bit bound within the first pass with the primary blades. With working the bit out and then back in, out and in, out and in, several times, I managed to drill into the basic 2x4 about a third of the way and then gave up. This bit has other good reviews but after about 20 minutes of drilling with it and only getting about a third of the way...

Too much
Would Not RecommendWanted it to drill holes in a stump. The bit bights too quick and deep it stops my half inch heavy duty drill. Too much of a good thing for this job.

Irwin 5/8 drill bit
Would RecommendNeeded a long 5/8 in drill bit for hiding a wifi router cable behind a cabinet. I then used it to drill several holes in decking to release a water blockage. Worked great on the different materials I had to drill thru.

As advertised
Would RecommendI was not sure how this bit would do with my 1.5 amp battery on my cordless drill, but I was suprised at how easy the 5/8” bit chewed through the wood with a full battery. Drill did eventually end up getting hot, so I switched to the plug in drill and had no issues. Bit stayed sharp boring about 50 holes through 4x4 treated lumber.

Very Sharp
Would RecommendI used this drill bit to make a hole in a desk top I made to insert the cords from a computer and lamp. It's very sharp and fast.
