Ratings & Reviews for IRWIN Marples 8 -Piece Assorted x Assorted Woodboring Forstner bit Drill Bit Set

Great forstner bits!! They get the job done!

These bits are exactly what I wanted. They work nicely both in my drill press and in a portable cordless drill. They create clean cylindrical bores, with minimal tearout. I'd definitely recommend them to someone looking for forstner bits. The one downside is their short shaft length, which limits the depth of holes one can bore; I knew this in advance from other reviews, so it wasn't a big issue for me.

beginner wood working

not sure what I'll be building but the are part of my shop for use somewhere down the line,

Great drill set!!!

Worked out perfectly! High quality! Excellent purchase!

Work great!

Saw some marginal reviews with other similar bits so went with these. Was able to drill a hole in door and use magnets to keep closed. Previous forstner bit wasn't working (assume it was dull) but these cut the hole easily...

Forstner Bits

There really isn't much to say about the bits. They are sharp, sturdy and do the job just fine. The added fact that they come in a case making it easier to handle and keep things in order is a plus.

Project items!

During the Corona Virus shelter-in-place, one of the projects I'm doing to keep busy is building a Murphy bed. I checked my stash of drill bits and discovered I only had one Forstner bit, an Irwin product. Only made sense to order this set to use through my project. Price was right and now I have a set of bits to cover a wide-range of hole sizes!

Quality Construction

These bits are amazing. Don’t look any further if you are looking for quality.

Works like a tool should

I like the variety of sizes available. It enabled me to use them for different projects. Just wish it had a 1 1/8" size.

The right tool for the job

This was a tool I didn’t have in my tool box and really needed for a project that a spade bit wouldn’t be delicate enough for. Fixing a live edge counter where mistakes can’t be made.

Great product, silly pricing

I have no issues whatsoever with the product, but the pricing scheme is silly. I needed just one specific size forstner bit for a table I was building, that one bit by itself was 1/3 the price of the entire 8 bit pack. So now I have 7 buts that I might use one day, maybe, but I really would have preferred the single bit if it had been priced even at 1/5 the price for all eight.

Does the Job

I used one bit to help me install some hinges. Great cutting action and easy to control the depth. It even cut through a hardened surface with ease.

Great Value

Very precise cuts - using on some modeling and works great. Nice case & price.

Needed it, bought it, used it.

Needed to drill a hole in a piece of wood into which I wanted to sink a bolt head. Bought the set because I will probably need to do something similar again for different size bolt heads.
