What Customers Are Saying

Customers overwhelmingly praise the sturdy metal construction, reliable performance, and compact shallow design ideal for retrofit applications and tight spaces. Most highlight durability, ease of installation, and suitability for old-work electrical upgrades across kitchens, cabinets, and low-voltage installations. Many specifically value the side ears and reduced depth for fitting where other boxes won't, with strong consensus on dependability and code compliance. A few note limited internal space with GFCI outlets or additional clamps, and some mention suboptimal knockout placement. Overall, reviewers consider it an excellent solution for confined retrofit work.

Hole in the wrong spot

Would Recommend

We all love to use the thinner box. It takes up less space in the cabinets. So who's bright idea was it to put the rear hole for the wires in the center? Once the fastener is connected and the romex is coming through even the thinest outlet can't fit in this box. You can't use the top or bottom hoes because the wood covers them. The holes for this box should be on the back but one end. This way the outlet on the inside has space for the wires and the fastener.

Lack of products in Electrical Dept.

The only reason i bought the metal outlet box is because the shelves in the Electrical Dept at the Lowes in High Ridge Mo were almost completely empty .

How to work the knock out

Would Recommend

This is a perfectly fine electrical box. Knockouts are har on any box if you don't know how. For those who do not know, there is a technique to open up the knockouts. Look for where the knock out is hinged - that is - attached more firmly. Go 180 deg across from the attachment tab, and as the other reviewer said use a hammer and screwdriver, and hit it - hard - with authority right at the edge. It will open like a flap. Pry it open and work it back and forth two times.

Standard knockouts, you just need to not be dumb

Would Recommend

Put a screwdriver on the edge of the circle and smack with a hammer. Just like every knockout ever made.
