The threaded insert has a slot for a screwdriver. I could not find a screwdriver or piece of metal wide enough to actually screw it into the drilled hole. I put a bolt all the way down into it and then tightened the bolt. The side of the threaded insert sheared off. I got one with an Allen key insert and they work much better.

Would Recommendvery soft brass but works well once inserted. Don't use the slot. unset a steel screw, well lubricated to insert then back it out. drill with one larger size drill and fill in with polyester glue.

Would RecommendThese work great when you predrill your pilot holes exactly the right size — they need to be snug enough to fit securely but loose enough to actually be able to drive these in without bending the soft brass. I only snapped one and learned my lesson: Brass is very soft, even in soft plywoods.

installed four of them to add wheels to coffee table. they worked great, but you must use the right predrill and put soap on them to help install.
