Insert nuts provide strong machine screw threading in soft woods or substrates. External protrusions bite into the wood, preventing the nut from either turning or pulling out. Simply drill a pilot hole, thread in the insert with a screwdriver or T-wrench, and use a machine screw or bolt to attach the other part. Join wood, chipboard and plywood with these brass fasteners which are especially useful in knockdown furniture.

What Customers Are Saying

The product can work well if installed correctly, but the installation process requires specific techniques. Using the recommended pilot hole size and a matching screw with two locking nuts is crucial to avoid damaging the inserts. However, the quality is mixed, with some users reporting the inserts are brittle and easily broken, especially in harder woods. Careful selection of the pilot hole size and drilling technique is essential for successful use.

off a little

Would Recommend

I drilled a 5/16 hole and snapped 2 off because it was too tight. Lowes exchanged them and I rounded out the hole some with the drill. They went in and will work great. 5 stars if I didn't have to adjust the hole and the extra trip.

break off VERY easily

Would Not Recommend

Don't waste your money on these. I broke two of them off using a flat head screwdriver. I drilled 21/64" hole. Google search said to use 5/16" hole. There wasn't much left of them, or I would have returned them to Lowes because I paid about $2.00 apiece. Now I am going to try the hex head inserts. :( It would be nice if Hillman would provide hole size they're designed for, but then they wouldn't sell as many.
