Always us a washer
Would RecommendWashers are an excellent option to provide a barrier between dissimilar metals, and prevent mounting hardware from scoring into components that are usually harder to replace. Stainless steel doesn't rust, so no worrying about corrosion. Be sure to use on the nut or bolt that will be torqued; static side is optional.
