Brass screws

Good product but would advise anyone using to use a square head driver instead of #2 phillips. Even with predrilling the head is subject to stripping out if putting into anything except very soft wood.

Maybe my expectations were too high?

Aesthetically pleasing, but terrible performance.

Terrible screws! The metal is very soft and they quickly strip out the heads and/or break when driving into wood. These look nice, but exterior grade or drywall grade screws are much better.

Brass screws have soft heads. Pilot holes a must!

They do what they need to do.

The tops are deep enough that the drill works.

They were sharp and went into the wood easily.

Remember brass is soft

One thing I forgot before buying this is that brass is very maleable. Please do your research if you are working with hard wood or you will end up with sheared off heads and screws stuck in your project.

Don't use power tools to screw

while using power tool on setting 1 of 12, and a pilot hole, 3 of 10 screws broke at the neck! Had to use a hand tool because I got tired of them breaking

Brass? So many alloys make up brass so what is it?

Why do these break so easily? The fine print reads 'brass finish' not solid brass. There are numerous mixes of metals (alloys) that can be called brass. Soft brass, hard brass, red brass, yellow brass. Technically these could be brass plated zinc or pot metal. Consumers are being squeezed by manufacturers and retailers with poor quality and continually rising prices. Corporations are now 'people', the worst kind, shameless and greedy.

Strip too easily and too soft for wood

These screws are too soft for wood and strip far too easily. Just trying to attach hinges on indoor shutters. Don't waste your money with this product.

Too weak to use

We bought a box of these to hang cabinet doors after misplacing the original screws. The holes were already drilled. Using a drill, we managed to break two screws (the first of 3 used). Then, we pulled out a screwdriver, hoping it would get the job done… alas, with the screwdriver, we managed to break another one before giving up entirely. Not a great purchase. But something else.
